Herman, Marty & Michelle - Mexico

Marty and Michelle Herman were approved under the STEP program (Short Term Evangelism Program) in April 2018 with the hope to assist Mike and Christie Starling in Mexico. They finished deputation the summer of 2019 and went to language school in Costa Rica in September 2019 for 3 months. They returned and prepared to move to Mexico after an Ordination ceremony at their home church March 1, 2020. But the pandemic hit and they had to postpone the move until March 2021 when they moved to Mexico full-time. The Hermans’ started with camp maintenance and helping local churches and realized the way to do more ministry was to move away from the camp and live in the village with the people.

In August of 2024 they were approved as full-time missionaries with the WBF. They are currently serving the people of Mexico and live in a house they built in Huachichil, Coahuila, Mexico. They have had several mission groups visit them and help them with ministry there in Mexico. They are looking forward to seeing future mission groups visit and lives changed.

Marty was saved in 2009 at his home church of Victory Baptist in Paris, Texas and was baptized in 2010 in a lake. Michelle was saved and baptized at a revival in her home town at First Baptist Church of Boswell, Oklahoma in1980.

Marty and Michelle were married in 1990 at First Baptist Church in Boswell, Oklahoma and then moved to Paris, Texas for Michelle to attend college.

Marty and Michelle have been members of Victory Baptist Church since 2006 and have served in children’s church, volunteered in the youth department and Marty has served as youth pastor.

Marty had been on seven mission trips to Huachichil Mexico with his home church. It was there in August of 2016 that he felt God calling him to do more. Marty and Michelle both started taking Bible classes from Arlington Baptist University through their RLI (Real Life Institute) distance learning program and received a certificate for completion of five classes/course of study in May 2018. They both will graduate with their Bible degrees from Faith Bible Institute when they finish their final online classes in December 2026.

Michelle is a nurse practitioner and worked in a family practice clinic until April 2018 when she quit to pursue their missions calling. Michelle has felt a calling to do missions for many years, especially after her first mission trip to the Philippines in 2013.

In addition to preaching and teaching, Marty is a licensed plumber, but is primarily a construction and farm equipment mechanic. God has also gifted him with the talent to weld, to do carpentry and some electrical. Michelle has the talent for carpentry, sewing, crafts and Medical clinics. This is why they call their ministry “5 Talents for Christ”. They are looking forward to the Lord continuing to use their talents for the glory of God. They currently are trying to reach the villages of Mexico with the true Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The Hermans' sending church is Victory Baptist Church, Paris, Texas, Pastor Curtis Blake.

They have one daughter, Makayla married to Ethan. And 2 young grandsons, Parker and Oliver.
