Schembera, Betty - RETIRED
Dave and Betty were approved as missionaries to Ecuador by the World Baptist Fellowship Mission Agency in 1974. In May, 2000 Dave became Assistant Mission Director for the Mission Agency.
Dave was saved in Whitewater, Kansas in 1965. Betty was eight years old when she was saved at the First Baptist Church of Augusta, Kansas.
Dave is a 1974 graduate of Bible Baptist Seminary, now Arlington Baptist University.
The Schemberas were married in Whitewater, Kansas in 1965. Their sending church is the Newspring Church of Wichita, Kansas along with Pleasantview Baptist Church of Arlington, Texas
They served the Lord for many years in Ecuador establishing churches and teaching in Bible Institutes. In February 2000, Dave was asked by the Mission Committee to consider leaving Ecuador and assuming the position of Assistant Mission Director. Dave spends much time teaching new missionaries and helping the new missionaries to expedite the deputation time. He also serves other missionaries in many areas as well as the local churches. Dave took over the WBF Bible Ministry after Bro. Mel Neill passed away.
They have two children - Kristi and Brian. Kristi went home to be with the Lord November 4, 2013.
November 15, 2018 Dave suddenly and unexpectedly went home to be with the Lord. He and Betty were on a trip to Branson, Missouri with the Senior group from Pleasantview Baptist Church of Arlington, Texas when he collapsed in a restaurant in Muskogee, Oklahoma. A memorial service was held at Pleasantview Baptist Church on November 26 and he was buried at the DFW National Cemetery.
